Shrovetide originates from the Catholic period in Denmark. Before the 40-day Lenten fast, Shrovetide was a celebration held to indulge in foods such as meat, rich dishes, and sweets, all of which would be forbidden during the austere fast. Although the significance of Lent diminished after the Reformation in 1536, the Shrovetide celebration continued to thrive.
Every year, La Glace creates a special selection of Shrovetide buns. Over the years, they have been inspired by cake personalities, city lights in Copenhagen, sweet treats, and more. No one knows what the next Shrovetide will bring — but rest assured, it will be delightful!
Available approximately 4 weeks before Shrovetide.
