Princess Thyra was the youngest child of king Christian 9th – also his favorite, it is said – and futhermore very popular among the people due to her charm and kindness. Thyra was born in 1853 and only 17 years old when La Glace was founded. It was an obvious choice to nam a cake after her. In 1878 she was married to the Duke of Cumberland and spend the rest of her lifetime with him in Gmunden in Austria.
Princess Thyra’s cake consists of choux pastry filled with vanilla cream and covered with icing. Choose between rum, chocolate or orange icing.
